Northern patients to Kantale General Hospital

The Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry will shift 200 patients who have arrived in Trincomalee from the North to Kantale General Hospital. The ICRC has transported 760 patients from the North to the Trincomalee Hospital, a Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry spokesman said.

He said all 760 patients injured in LTTE attacks have been receiving treatment at the Trincomalee Hospital and there is no adequate space in the hospital. The ICRC is planning to transport more patients from the North to the Trincomalee Hospital and patients will be shifted to the Batticaloa Hospital. Ministry officials visited Trincomalee Hospital to ensure that all 760 patients receive proper care. The Ministry has made arrangements to send four surgeons, one gynecologist, 15 medical officers, 50 nurses, one anesthesian, two pediatrics and several others to the Trincomalee Hospital.
