Over 65pc votes assured at Saturday's polls - NFF leader

The Government will get over 65 per cent votes at the Wayamba and Central Provincial Council elections. Once the victory over terrorism is achieved, the country will herald a new era, National Freedom Front (NFF) leader Wimal Weerawansa said.

He was addressing a media briefing in Colombo recently.

He said the voters in the two provinces will deliver an appropriate message to the international forces which are behind the LTTE.

"Our Forces have cornered the terrorists to a small territory in Mullaitivu. Voters in Wayamba and Central Province in their clear mandate will further confirm that they are behind our Security Forces who have scored victory after victory over the LTTE terrorists," he said.

Weerawansa said by voting for the betel leaf, the people in the two provinces have got the opportunity to deliver a clear message to the international forces that the Security Forces are backed by 65 per cent of the population.

NFF Parliamentarian Achala Suranga Jagoda also participated.
