Candidates asked to leave out President in posters

The Presidential Secretariat has drawn its serious attention to instances when candidates in their election campaign have made use of posters, banners and cutouts depicting them with President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The Presidential Secretariat informed the candidates to desist from such practices in future.

The President has also instructed the IGP to remove all such banners, cutouts, and posters from public display since the use of the President’s picture for election propaganda is a violation of election laws.
