Program to help disabled persons

'Arogya' Foundation for the disabled has launched a project to
provide wheel chairs and other equipment needed by disabled persons in
remote areas. The foundation has already distributed 40 wheel chairs, 10
handicaps, one water bed, 10 walking sticks and four baby wheel chairs
last year.
The foundation invites needy disabled persons to contact Ven. Unapana
Ariyadamma Thera at Sri Nalandaramaya, Pathiragoda, Nawinna for their
requirements.
'Arogya' Foundation gets these equipment from well-wishers and donors
abroad and distributed four wheel chairs and walking sticks at a
ceremony held at Sri Bodhi Rukkaramaya 4th canal. Polonnaruwa recently.
The director of the foundation Ven. Unapane Ariyadhamma Thera was
himself once a disabled person following a road accident. He had been
treated at a hospital in Singapore.
"Neuro hospitals need swimming pools as water exercise is needed for
neurotic patients. We do not have hospitals of that nature in Sri Lanka.
The aim of this foundation is to build a special hospital for neurotic
patient in Sri Lanka," Ven. Ariyadhamma Thera told the Daily News". |
