Stunning win for Moratu Vidyalaya

Moratu Vidyalaya pulled off an exiting six wicket win over more fancied Mahanama College, Colombo to register their ninth outright win from eleven outings in their inter-school under 19 cricket tournament match played at Moratuwa.

Continuing at 180 for 7 homesters were all out for 243 with skipper Lasitha Mendis and Asanka Silva contributing 32 and 34 runs respectively. A. Welikandage bowled best for the visitors with 5 for 46.

In their second essay mahanama were all out for 208 runs leaving Vidyalians to score 168 runs in thirty overs and they made it with two overs to spare.

A. Ruberu made 52 runs for the visitors and Asanka Silva bagged 4 for 58 for Vidyalians. Aloka Priyadarshana 59 and Sudeepa Kelum 52 were the chief run getters for the winners.

Mahanama 202 and 208 (A. Ruberu 52, H. Kaluarachchi 32, D. Gunatilleke 24, P. Welikandage 22, Asanka Silva 4 for 58, Chatura Hemakumara 3 for 51, Malinga Bandara 2 for 10).MMV 180 for 7 overnight all out 243 (Lasitha Mendis 32, Asanka Silva 34, A. Welikandage 5 for 46, S. Perera 2 for 78) and 168 for 4 (Aloka Priyadarshana 59, Sudeepa Kelum 52).
