Message from inister Arumugan Thondaman

“On the occasion of 61st anniversary of Independence Day of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, I wish the people of Sri Lanka particularly the people of Indian Origin peace and prosperity.

“Our people who today enjoy the fruits of freedom and development devote themselves to a path of cooperation and harmony.

“The expectation of the people of the Indian origin is to mainstream into Sri Lankan Society and enjoy all the rights as equal citizens participating in the development of the nation.

“On this historic occasion I call upon the people to devote themselves to unity and understanding between the communities in Sri Lanka towards harmony in a developed State,” the message said.
