Election fever hotting up

The election fever is hotting up in the entire Nuwara-Eliya district, mainly in the plantation sector which possesses 52 per cent of the total voting strength in the entire Nuwara-Eliya district comprising five electorates.

Political parties and independent groups contesting the forthcoming Central Provincial Council polls are holding pocket meetings and many of the candidates are going house to house canvassing with huge crowds and their supporters. The major political parties such as UPFA the UNP, the JVP and a new political party known 'the Ruhunu People's Party' led by a former member of Parliament Ajantha de Zoysa.
