Key Tiger nabbed in Ella
A key LTTE suspect believed to be responsible for many terror attacks
in the South was arrested in Namunukala Estate, Ella on Thursday.
Police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera said the Tiger was arrested
early December in Padukka when attempting to explode a bomb inside a
bus.
"Following extensive interrogation by the Colombo Criminal Division (CCD),
the suspect disclosed information of a vehicle containing explosives to
be transferred to the South. The vehicle was recovered in Karadiyan-Aru,
Batticaloa with 23 kgs of C4 explosives and arms and weapons," he added.
SSP Gunaskera said when he was further interrogated the suspect
revealed information about the main LTTE operative in connection with
many terror attacks in the South .
"Ragulan who is a key LTTE cadre responsible for many terror attacks
was arrested in the Namunukula Estate while hiding inside a Kovil," he
added.
CCD recovered a remote control device used for explosions hidden
behind a shop in Minipe after interrogating Ragulan. RJ
