Bowlers call the tune at Havelock Park

A total of 23 wickets fell on a sensational opening day’s play as Bloomfield took control over Colts CC in their high profile SLC Premier League Tier A tournament match which commenced at Havelock Park yesterday.

Bloomfield after been shot out for 159 came back strongly to skittle out Colts CC for just 87 runs with the spinners Suraj Mohamed and Shanuka Dissanayake sharing nine wickets between them.

Bloomfield: 159 (S. Dissanayake 66, R. Dias 21, S. Weerakoon 5 for 30, R. Perera 2 for 45, T. Perera 2 for 43) and 46 for 3 (S. Weerakoon 2 for 6).

Colts CC: 87 (I. Muthalip 32, T. Perera 28 n.o, S. Dissanayake 4 for 31, S. Mohamed 5 for 12).

Moors reach 227

Two fighting half centuries from Damitha Hunukumbura (60) and Hasantha Fernando (51) helped Moors SC reach 227 runs n their first innings on the opening day of their SLC Premier League Tier A tournament match against the defending champions SSC which commenced at Maitland Place yesterday.

Moors SC: 227 (D. Sudarshana 39, D. Hunukumbura 60, H. Fernando 51, S. Senanayake 4 for 61, S. Karunanayake 3 for 35).

SSC: 50 for 2 (T. Paranavithana 27).

Sujeeva takes 5 for 52

Paceman Sujeeva de Silva captured five wickets for 52 to help CCC dismiss Ragama CC for 215 runs in their first innings on the opening day of their SLC Premier League Tier A tournament match which commenced at Maitland Crescent yesterday.

Chief scores:

Ragama CC: 215 (D. Daminda 64 n.o, D. Perera 27, H Wickremaratne 30, I. de Saram 23, S. de Silva 5 for 52).

CCC: 153 for 3 (D. K. Ranaweera 22, B. Perera 42 n.o, C. Sylvester 64, U. Indrasiri 2 for 22).

Kanchana props up NCC

Opener Kanchana Gunawardena hit an elegant 103 with two sixes and a dozen of boundaries as NCC hit up an impressive 281 for 3 in their first innings on the opening day of their SLC Premier League Tier A tournament match against Sri Lanka Army SC which commenced at Panagoda yesterday.

NCC: 281 for 3 (K. Gunawardena 103, S. Wijeratne 88 n.o, C. Wijesinghe 45, K. Kulasekera 25 n.o) v Army SC.

Chilaw Marians amass 330 for 8

Suresh Niroshan hit a splendid 138 to help Chilaw Marians SC reach a formidable 330 for 8 in their first innings on the opening day of their SLC Premier League Tier A tournament match against the Tamil Union which began at the P. Saravanamuttu Stadium yesterday.

Chilaw Marians SC: 330 for 8 (S. Niroshan 138, G. Wijekoon 48, R. Silva 48, H. Cooray 22, M. Surappulige 3 for 36, I. Udana 2 for 77).
