Health Ministry to sue doctors staying abroad

The Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry will take legal action against 100 Sri Lankan doctors who are still abroad after completing their scholarship periods.

Sources said there are several Sri Lankan doctors who stay back in foreign countries without returning to Sri Lanka after completing their scholarship period. They stay back and earn money serving in foreign countries.

But it is the Sri Lankan public that spent public funds to send them abroad on scholarships. They were sent abroad because Sri Lanka urgently needs the services of specialized doctors.
