Golden Key Chairman, Directors to appear before CID

Mount Lavinia Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge Harsha
Sethunga yesterday ordered the Chairman and other directors of the
Golden Key Credit Card Company to appear before the Criminal
Investigation Department (CID) on January 20 and make statements in
respect of the complaints made by the depositors of the Company.
The Judge made this order after lengthy submissions by the Counsel
for the depositors and Deputy Solicitor General Sarath Jayamanne who
appeared for the Attorney General.
The Judge remanded four directors of the Company till January 30.
Several Counsel appearing for the depositors submitted to court that
notice be issued for the Secretary and the Auditor of the Company to
appear in court on the next date.
President’s Counsel C.R. De Silva with Clinton Dabare and Kuvera de
Silva appeared for the Chairman of the Company.
President’s Counsel Denzil Gunaratne who appeared with Buddhika
Jayasinghe for the Vice Chairman of the Company said she was undergoing
treatment abroad and was unable to appear in court yesterday.
President’s Counsel Rienzie Arsacularatne with Upali Gooneratne
appeared for the Director Finance of the Company.
Senior Attorneys-at-Law Nalin Ladduwahetti and Anil Silva also
appeared in the case.
Maithri Gunaratne, A. Medagoda and Ananda Kasthuri made lengthy
submissions on behalf of the depositors.
Tight security prevailed in the outer perimeter of the Court premises
on the direction of Mount Lavinia Senior SP Hemantha Adhikari and
assisted by Mount Lavinia SP Lalith C. Gunawardena.
The case will be called again on January 30. |
