Ceylinco record two good victories

Ceylinco Grameen made an impressive start by bagging a double-header in the Edirisinghe Trust Investments Ltd. (ETI) sponsored, MCA ‘C’Division 50 overs League tournament 2009 which got underway last week-end.

On Saturday, Ceylinco Grameen scored a comfortable seven wicket win over Stafford Motors and followed it up with a crushing six wicket win over Bartleets on Sunday.

MAS Active’s, lower order batsman, Weranga Dissanayake took the honours of being the first centurion of the tournament when he cracked an incredible 126 runs in 105 balls, inclusive of 9 sixes and 8 fours against J L Morison. At one stage, MAS Active was looking down the barrel at 65 for 6.

There onwards, Dissanayake with the help of Sanjaya Jayaratne (57 in 65 balls with a six & 4 fours) put them back on course with a spell binding 160 runs stand for the seventh wicket.

MAS Active ultimately finished with 295 for 9 and went on to win the match by 104 runs.

Note worthy bowling performances came from Dilshan Indrasiri of HSBC ‘A’ 5 for 15 in 8 overs against Stafford Motors and Romesh Eranga of Ceylinco Grameen 5 for 35 in 9 overs against Bartleets)

The tournament will be continued this week-end, 17th & 18th January 2009 with a card of five matches.

At Colts - Janashakthi ‘B’ beat Bartleets by 35 runs
