Four suspects including Kotte MMC absconding

Kotte Municipal Council Member and four others suspected to have been involved in the Sirasa attack are reported to be absconding, Police said.

Earlier two suspects including a member of the same Council were arrested and remanded.

A group of unidentified persons which included the fugitive council member had stormed into the Pannipitiya Devram Viharaya, a few hours prior to the attack on Sirasa.

Meanwhile, Ven. Kolonnawe Sri Sumangala Thera, Chief Incumbent of Devram Viharaya in a statement to Police said he suspected that the group was upto mischief.

A few days after the Sirasa attack, UNP Municipal Council member S.A. Jayasuriya, his defender jeep, and another suspect were taken into custody by Police.
