Uva Province Government schools not understaffed now

All Government schools in the Uva Province, are in the Badulla and
Monaragala districts, are no more understaffed, Department of Education,
(Uva Provincial) sources said.
The Uva Provincial Council has recruited 2,879 teachers over the
recent past to the schools where there was a shortage of teachers, the
'department' said.
Teacher shortage was reported from the Government schools in the
Badulla and Monaragala districts, and the Uva Provincial Council decided
to recruit a group of teachers in light of that situation.
Following the decision, 809 graduates, 450 diploma holders and 140
from the National Academies of Education were recruited as Government
school teachers teaching in the Sinhala Medium.
Meanwhile, another group of 717 qualified individuals were recruited
as Government school teachers for the Tamil and Muslim schools in the
two districts.
The Government has recruited 63 male and female cadets with a
training in teaching the English langauge to the Government schools in
the Uva Province, as well.
In addition, there are 700 volunteer teachers under the direction of
the Uva Provincial Department of Education. |
