What Tamil politicians say . . .
ANANTH PALAKIDNAR
Former Vanni Parliamentarian and the PLOTE leader Darmalingam
Sidharthan has urged the LTTE not to fool the Tamils any more and
surrender to establish peace in the North and East, and country at
large.
The PLOTE leader commenting on the fall of Killinochchi to the
Security Forces stated that with the defeat in Killinochchi the 'Tigers'
have now become 'lame ducks'.
"The outfit was first routed out from the Jaffna Peninsula in the mid
nineties and later they were kicked out from the East in 2007. Now at
the beginning of 2009 the LTTE has lost its last bastion Killinochchi.
Therefore the outfit cannot remain steadily and continue with its
struggle any more. Killinochchi has now turned into the 'Waterloo' of
the LTTE," Sidharthan said.
He also added that certain political forces opposed to the Government
were unable to digest the victory gained by the Security Forces in
Killinochchi.
They are saying that the retreating LTTE would adopt guerilla tactics
from the jungles to attack the Security Forces. But it was impossible
and they won't be able to gather mass support for them from the North
and East."
I expect soon rivalries within the outfit and their end will be
suicidal," Sidharthan said.
Minister of Social Services and the EPDP leader Douglas Devananda
commenting on the fall of Killinochchi said that with the collapse of
the peace talks in 2005, LTTE drove the final nail to its coffin."
Now the outfit has dug its own grave with the defeat in Killinochchi.
Prabhakaran and his misguided followers have no place to hide
themselves. Instead of facing total annihilation, the members of the
LTTE should give up their arms and enter the political mainstream.
