Religious observances for Kilinochchi capture

The Religious Affairs Ministry requested all religious places to conduct religious observances from today to January 10 at 7pm to mark the Security Forces' capture of Kilinochchi.


Free exercise books for schoolchildren

The National Council of the YMMA's of Sri Lanka, Maligawatte has organised the distribution of free exercise books and stationery to schoolchildren on January 4 at 10.00 a.m. at the Lafir Cassim Auditorium. Western Provincial Councillor A. J. M. Muzzamil will be the chief guest.


Asoka Vidyalaya OBA AGM

The Annual General Meeting of Old Boys Association, Asoka Vidyalaya, Colombo 10 will be held on January 4 at 4.00 p.m. at the school hall.


Colombo District Judge

Former Homagama District Judge Sampath Kapila Bandara Wijeratne has been appointed Colombo District Judge with effect from January 1, following former Colombo District Judge Sisira Ratnayake being appointed Avissawella Provincial High Court Judge last December.


Architect 2009

Architect 2009 exhibition will be held from March 4 to 8 at the BMICH along with the Deyata Kirula 2009.

The largest annual exhibition organised by Architect 2009 was earlier scheduled to be held in February but was re-scheduled to March to give a better service to a large number of people, a spokesman of the Institute of Architects said.


Bahu Ranga CD launch

Bahu Ranga, the maiden album of Ravibandu Vidyapathi will be launched on January 4 at 7.00 p.m. at the Lionel Wendt Theatre in a concert of Drum Music by Ravibandu Vidyapathi.


Freshers' Concert

A concert of dancing demonstrating the talents and skills of six female dancers trained at Ravibandu-Samanthi dance ensemble will be held today at 7.00 p.m. at the Lionel Wendt Theatre.


Professional lecture

Professor Samita Deraniyagala, who has been appointed Head of the Faculty of the College of Chemical Sciences of the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon and Visiting Professor of Inorganic Chemistry from October 2008 will deliver the inaugural Professorial lecture on January 8 at 4 p.m. in the PPGL Siriwardene Auditorium, Adamantane House, 341/22, Kotte Road, Welikada, Rajagiriya.

The lecture is titled 'Activation of Small Molecules Organometallic Perspectives.'
