Slight rise in dengue cases last month

A slight increase in dengue victims have been reported during the end of last month, said Dr. Pradeep Kariyawasam, Chief Medical Officer, Public Health Department of the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC).

The number of dengue victims reported from the municipality area was 18 during the last two days while 15 children are being treated at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital (LRH).

Most victims were from Central Colombo, Dr. Kariyawasam added.

He said there was an increase in dengue cases in Southern, Colombo and Ratnapura.

A special discussion was held a few days ago to take precautionary measures to control the spread of Mosquito borne diseases in the city, he said.
