34 arrested in raids

Police arrested 34 persons with illicit drugs in raids conducted in Nikaweratiya during two days, a release by the Police Headquarters said.

During the raids carried out from December 26 morning to the following day morning, in 10 places in the Nikaweratiya Police division, 18 suspects were arrested with 986 drams of illicit drugs.

The Police teams nabbed three persons with 1,920 drams of goda and another three with 56 drams of illicit drugs.

The Police teams also conducted raids in six places in the division from Saturday morning to Sunday morning and arrested seven persons with 284 drams of illicit drugs and another three with 6,952 drams of goda.
