Growth glitters from jewellers export earnings

Export earnings from the Gem and Jewellery trade this year recorded a 16 per cent growth compared to the previous year, Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Exchange Authority Chairman Hasitha Thilakaratne said.

This increase indicates a total earning of Rs. 54,446 million by November this year from Rs. 47,024 million over the corresponding period last year.

It includes jewellery exports worth Rs. 1,747 million, diamond re-exports worth Rs. 41,518 million, exports worth Rs. 159 million and diamond jewellery exports worth Rs. 859 million.
