Arpico Rigifoam relocates
The pioneers of expandable Polystyrene Technology in Sri Lanka -
Richard Pieris & Company Ltd. which introduced the product in the early
sixties relocated to a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Horana
under a new name - RPC Polymers Ltd. to meet the fast-expanding needs of
the market.
Looking back at the history of the brand, Sunil Liyanage, Managing
Director said: “Our product blended with and filled a need in the
society so much that over the years ‘Rigifoam’ became almost a generic
term for expandable polystyrene.”
When the product was initially introduced, in a small factory in
Nawinna and subsequently moved into Mattegoda, the Company manufactured
Insulated Boxes, Containers and Sheets for the insulation of cold rooms.
The demand for ‘Rigifoam’ grew rapidly as more and more industries
turned to the product for packaging and insulation and Richard Pieris &
Company was able to move ahead investing in new technology and new
equipment to keep pace with emerging needs for many different types of
Containers and insulation requirements and packaging requirements,
primarily for the Electronics Industry.
“Now we’re geared for large scale production with innovative process
improvements in our operation ensuring minimum deliver time, consistency
of supply and superior product quality giving you the edge over
competition. Our dedicated workforce ensures that Arpico’s quality is
strictly maintained” the Managing Director elaborated further. Today the
Company manufactures wide variety of products including floats of
different types for fishnets that have become a boon to the Fishing
Industry.
The opening of the new factory will ensure that the household name of
‘Rigifoam’ will continue to reach the hearts and minds of individuals as
well as enterprises, who have come to trust and appreciate the brand.
