ICASL orientation seminar

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka conducted a seminar for its trainee students on December 11 at ICASL auditorium.

A significant feature of the ICASL curriculum being that each student registered at the institute endures a mandatory training period of 3 to 4 years enables the students to apply the concepts and theories learnt to real life business situations.

While every student reading for the Chartered Accountants Program is required to work in a selected organisation out of more than 800 Auditing and Non Auditing firms which are approved by the Institute, they will also be mentored by a Chartered Accountant.

The recently held seminar which involved the participation of more than 200 students was focused on the students who have undergone a training of below one year. The core objective of conducting this skill emergent seminar was to expose the students to the knowledge of the industry experts.

The participants were given a comprehensive awareness of many important employment areas akin to the “Employers Expectations from the Employee”, “Importance of Practical Training and Development of Ethics” and also “Importance of Soft Skill Development”.

A group of eminent resources personalities who are senior members of ICASL as Anthony Jayaranjan designated as the Senior Vice President, Head of Learning and Development at John Keells Holdings, Hiranthi Ratnayaka currently holding the position of Director Tax at PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Group Internal Auditor at Prima Group Darshana de Silva orated at this seminar who are recognised as dominant personalities in their respective fields.

The orientation seminar was conducted very productively were the students resolved many of their work related queries and they were also able to identify the usefulness and the newly emerging trends in the industry.

The feedbacks received from the students were immensely satisfying and the ICASL is work towards conducting the next seminar for the additional trainees in the near future.

Lasantha Wickramasinghe the Chairman of the Students Training and Development Committee, Ganaka Amarasinghe the alternate Chairman of the Students Training and Development Committee of ICASL and the Chief Executive Officer of the institute Aruna Alwis also graced the occasion.
