Deep sea fishing to develop under Board of Investment
The Board of Investment of Sri Lanka granted investment approval to
Deshan International Imports and Exports to set up a project to
undertake deep sea fishing and allied products for export. Chairman /
Director General Dhammika Perera signed the agreement on behalf of the
BOI and formally presented the BOI Certificate of Registrations to the
investor.
Perera stated that the BOI encourages more local investors to invest
in the local fishing industry.
The fishing venture is an initial investment of Rs. 20 million and
will involve in collecting, processing and export of fish.
The project carried out in Trincomalle will initially collect fish
from local fishermen. The company expects to expand operations by
purchasing fishing boats.
The company will commence operations immediately and will export
products to markets in Japan, Germany, France, Netherlands and Italy.
The investor said that there is a big demand for fish and processed fish
product exports. Directors of the Company Nuwan Fernando and Nayomi
Fernando signed the agreement on behalf Deshan International Imports and
Exports (Private) Limited.
