Market in holiday mood

The market saw another slow day of trading with turnover amounting to just under Rs. 16 million and the indices ending negative as well.

The ASI closed the day at 1,501 points down 8.62 points (-0.57%) while the liquid MPI closed down 6.59 points at 1,643 (-0.40%).

Over a third of the day's turnover was contributed by John Keells Holdings (JKH) and Colombo Dockyards (DOCK).

Large cap conglomerate JKH was the main contributor to the day's trading with Rs. 3.7 million worth of shares changing hands.

The share shed Rs. 4.00 to close at Rs. 50.00 on a volume of 73,900 shares.

Listed ship builder DOCK accounted for Rs. 2.2 million worth trading during the day which saw the share close flat at Rs. 49.00 on a volume of 46,500 shares.
