Army maintains unbeaten record, stays on top

Sri Lanka Army with an unbeaten record still holds on to the top
position in Dialog Premier League Soccer Championship Segment A I with
Negombo Youth SC and Renown SC trying their best to reach the semi-final
along with SL Army. The second and third placed teams in this group are
on equal points (13).
In Segment A II, Ratnam SC the defending champs and Air Force have
booked their semi-final berth after completing nine games out of ten to
have a good lead of 5 and nine points ahead of the following teams in
this group.
In these two Pelicans SC and Java Lane SC have failed to impress
right throughout the tournament. Pelicans have gained only a single win
while the Slave Island club has failed to record a single win.
The Segment B I leaders, Kandy York SC have taken a firm grip with a
tally of 21 points while their closest rivals have only 15 points with
only two more games left to be played by them, none could push them out
of the semis according to the present standings.
Meanwhile in Segment B II, Old Bens SC and Golden Star SC are on
equal points (19) are heading towards the semis. The only team that
could make a strong bid to enter the semis is Sarasavi SC which has 14
points under their belt. With two games left to be played Sarasavi SC
with two wins from their games could pose a problem to the leaders.
It was a sorry state of affairs for most renowned Saunders team where
there were many up and downs in the round one. This they could not
overcome at any stage in round two and at present placed at fifth slot
in Segment A I.
Bluestar SC are champs and New Youngs SC from Wennappuwa too failed
to make an impact this season.

Ratnams SC beat Java Lane SC 5-2 at CR&FC ground.
Negombo Youth SC drew with Army SC 2-2 at Kelaniya.
New Youngs SC drew Blue Star SC 0-0 at Kalutara.
Police SC drew with Jupiters SC 3-3 at Police Park.
Super Beach SC drew with Kandy York SC 1-1.
Golden Star SC beat Old Bens 1-0.
Don Bosco SC beat Maya SC 1-0.
