ISO certification for Arpidag

Sri Lanka's pioneers in retreading, Arpidag International (Pvt) Ltd, a subsidiary of Richard Pieris & Co. Ltd, had the honour of receiving ISO 9001:2000 standards certification from Sri Lanka Standards Institution recently.


Director/General Manager of Richard Pieris Tyre Company, Pushpika Janadheera receiving the ISO 9001:2000 certification from the Director General of Sri Lanka Standards Institution, B.S. de Silva. R. Premalal, Mahesh Withanarachchi, (ISO Co-ordinator), Nishantha Samaratunga, Kapila Dissanayake, Shiran de Silva, Lalaka Pieris (MR-ISO) and T.P.P.P Dharmaratne, of SLSI are also in the picture.

The certification was presented for treads, cushion gum and liquid cement that are core raw materials used in retread tyre manufacturing.

This achievement is a clear reflection on the high standard of the product and is a victory for the consumer who has demonstrated trust and confidence in Arpidag since the Company commenced production in 1991. Today the Company is the market leader and produces 300 MT per month and its main customer Richard Pieris Tyre Co. Ltd., produces more than 50,000 retread tyres a month and is the foremost manufacturer of the product in South Asia, continuing to revolutionise the industry.

Director and General Manager of Richard Pieris Tyre Company, Pushpika Janadheera, said: "Ours are the only retreads that offer 80% performance compared to a brand new tyre. Arpidag retreads are designed to withstand Sri Lanka's tough terrain and are in the long run more economical to use.

It was a challenge to adhere to the high standards stipulated by SLSI and we scrutinise all stages of our operation. This strict process resulted in Arpidag International successfully streamlining our standards."

Arpidag International helps to upgrade the quality of small scale competitor companies who are able to purchase their requirements of ATM brands at a reasonable cost from Arpidag.


Klevenberg showcases Total Auto Electrical Solutions

Klevenberg (Pte) Ltd. showcased the concept of 'Total Auto Electrical Solutions' at the recently held Formula Plus Motor Show 2008, organised by the Classic Car Club of Ceylon. Pioneers in Mobile Battery Service, Diesel Emission Control and Synthetic Lubricants, Klevenberg launched yet another innovative concept "Total Auto Electrical Solutions"

The stall covered globally leading brands such as Lucas, Champion, Simoniz, Lucas TRW, Delphi, Lucas TVS, Hartridge, Stanadyne, Lumax and Britpart for Land Rover.

Klevenberg had a separate technical corner for school children and students of Technical Colleges where technical experts educated them on motor engineering and issued various educational material on complimentary basis.

A Formulae 3 car which was displayed within the Klevenberg stall which was sponsored by Lucas, Champion, Simoniz and Delphi all of which are agencies held by Klevenberg.

Lucas which is a global brand offers Sri Lankan motorists a 'Total Auto Electrical Solutions' covering batteries, starter motors, alternators, wiper motors, ignition leads, relays, fuses, lighting and other electrical components as well.

Lucas having established in UK in 1882, has remained a strong brand in Sri Lanka for well over half a century and is in a position to cover the entire electrical system of a motor vehicle. Klevenberg is in the process of extending their services of 'Total Auto Electrical Solutions' to the customer's doorstep through its Battery Mobile Service.

They had on display at their stall a Delphi Common - Rail Diesel Injection System which is a far superior system and is a fundamental change in Diesel Technology and therefore is capable of addressing fuel emission regulations and simultaneously enhance performance, reliability and most importantly fuel economy. This system has been accepted as the Automotive Technology of the future.

Lumax India has joined hands with Klevenberg to strengthen their product portfolio as the largest OE supplier of lighting to most Indian automobiles.


Modern filling station opens

A new 'all-in-one' filling station will open today in Buthgamuwa Road. Owned by Rajagiriya Tours and Transport (Pvt) Ltd. (www.rajagiriyatours.com), 24 hour filling, repairs and maintenance service, 24 hour breakdowns, spare parts, tyres and batteries, rent-a-car, wheel alignment, customer lounge, free wi-fi access, cafe and restrooms are just some of the facilities offered here.

In addition, there will be special discounts on tyres, wheel alignments, services/body wash and labour on repairs as well as host of other goodies.
