Past President of the Institute of Personnel Management in Sri Lanka
Jayantha Jayaratne, recently held talks with chairperson of the Durban
coastal branch of the Institute of People Management Dayalan Govender.
Matters of mutual interest were discussed and in particular the issue
of skills development in South Africa and how to meet the challenges.
Also discussed were matters relating to the professional qualifications
offered by The IPM in Sri Lanka and the strides made in making this a
dynamic organisation in that country.
Jayaratne extended an invitation to Govender to join them at their
forthcoming IPM Convention to be held in Sri Lanka next year.
The intention behind this initial meeting is for both parties to
share best practice around people management issues.
Jayaratne still serves on the Council of the IPM in Sri Lanka and,
before his retirement, was Deputy General Manager (Human Resources) of
the Commercial Bank.
Jayaratne was on a consultancy assignment for transnet in the Durban
Port and will be returning later this year. |
