No major changes in standings

Kandy York Sports Club and Old Bens held onto their top positions in Dialog Premier League Segment B I and II.

They defeated Maya SC and Sarasavi SC respectively during the weekend at Gampola and Kotahena.

Meanwhile Don Bosco too registered victory over Hyline SC at Bogambara to move a step forwarded pushing Hyline to third slot. York SC and Don Bosco recorded four goals each against their rivals.

Kandy York after leading 1-0 managed to score three more goals to gain an easy win.

But Don Bosco had to fight all the way as they were on equal terms at the breather. With goals coming from K. G. D. R. J. Kumara in the 69th minute and a goal in the final minute form J. D. P. L. Alponsu saw them taste victory.

W. A. S. Sagara was the hero for Kandy York SC scoring three goals for his side while the fourth came from the boot of S. M. Riza.

M. Yogarajah with two goals and Rienzie Wallace scoring saw Old Bens cruise to victory. The Red Sun SC from Gampola drew with Kalutara Park SC 1-1. At lemons the Kalutara team was in front, but failed to hold onto their lead.

The two teams right at the bottom of this segment, Golden Star SC and Cooray SC game which was of no interest towards the standing ended with Golden Star gaining a comfortable 4-1 win.

Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Air Force kept their top spot intact while the giant killers Renown Sports Club from Kotahena moved two steps up when they overcame New Youngs SC one goal to nil. Their victory also helped them to push down the Negombo Youth SC to third position. According to the present standing Negombo Youth SC will have to come up with everything they have in store to make it to the top slot.

They are left with three more games.A change could be expected in the Segment A-II today when the postponed Ratnam SC-Saunders play at CR&FC ground. A win here for Ratnam’s will put them ahead of Airmen as they lead only by a single point. A draw will bring them on par with leaders Air Force.

This season Saunders SC have failed to live up to expectations from the beginning. dition the spectators too have made things bad for the Pettah Club.
