Priority for upgrading pre-school education - NCP Chief Minister

The five year development plan relating to the kindergartens in the
North Central Province was brought to light at a ceremony held at
Walisinghe Harischandra Maha Vidyalaya Anuradhapura recently.
The Chief Minister North Central Province addressing the pre-school
teachers, parents and the officials of the provincial education Ministry
said that there were 1251 pre-schools at present in NCP registered under
North Central Kindergartens Development Authority recently established
in terms of the provincial pre-school statute, and the number of
pre-school teachers attached to the schools was 2800.
He said the motto of the North Central Provincial education system is
“there is no future without education”. We give top priority to upgrade
the kindergarten education as such a methodology would help to mould
disciplined and educated citizens.
It has been planned to commission a kindergarten teachers training
institute and create a uniformed pre-school teachers service in the
province.
In recognition of the teacher and as an incentive a sum of Rs. 1,000
will be paid to every pre-school teacher as an allowance. According to
the Chief Minister within the next five years in each Divisional
Secretariat division in the NCP 10 model nursery schools will be setup.
The secretary of the Chief Ministry Ananda Kularatne, the
Kindergarten Development Authority’s Chairman Anura Disanayake, the
Manager of the Plan Sri Lanka Organisation Karu Bandara and pre-school
teachers from Palagala Medawachchiya, Maha Wilachchiya and Nuwaragam
Palatha (Central) Divisional Secretariat divisions participated at the
ceremony.
