More facilities for Wanni civilians entering cleared areas
Vavuniya: The Resettlement and Diaster Relief Services Ministry will
release Rs. 13 million to the District Secretary Vavuniya for provision
of relief services to those entering Government controlled areas from
uncleared areas of Killinochchi and Mullaitivu, Minister Rishad
Bathiudeen said yesterday.
So far, 182 persons have entered Vavuniya from uncleared areas. More
people are expected to come to Vavuniya. A committee has been appointed
under the chairmanship of the District Secretary to provide relief to
those arriving in Vavuniya.
Minister Bathiudeen said the Government has made arrangements to
establish welfare centres to house them safely. Cooked meals, Dry
rations, drinking water, electricity, health and sanitation facilities
will also be provided to them, he said.
Meanwhile, three civilians from uncleared areas of Mulliyaweli and
Nedunkerni in Mullaitivu arrived at the Omanthai Entry/Exit point
seeking Forces protection yesterday morning.
