Star attraction on 'Dancing Stars'

Sirasa Tv is on yet another history-making venture as their maiden
movie, 'Dancing Stars' is nearing completion. According to its channel
head, Susara Dinal, this may be the first time in history that a
television channel is producing a movie based on one of its reality
shows.
The movie, directed by Dinal, will feature reputed actors Malani
Fonseka, Ravindra Randeniya, Sanath Gunatileke, Sabeetha Perera, Rosy
Senanayake and Vishaka Siriwardena along with youngsters like Dushyanth
Weeraman, Nilanthi Dias, Roshan Ranawana, Shiroshi Romeshika, Hashini
Gonagala, Lakshman Mendis, Nalin Gunaratne, Pubudu Chathuranga and
others.

The movie is based on the emergence of youth talent in the backdrop
of a touching love story. It explores the opportunities young men and
women get to display their skills while focusing on topics like class
divisions and aspirations of youths.
The script is by Aruna Jayawardana who is also the movie's
co-director. Sumith Nandalal is the camerman, Nimal Subasinghe handles
the make up department, Derick Samarasundara the art department, Viraj
Weliwatte is the production designer while Waruna Karunaratne is the
assistant director. Thushan Karunaratne is the production manager and
Jeewantha Devapriya is the editor. Lalith Wasantha is in charge of the
audio editing while Maliki Wijemanna designed the costumes.
'Dancing Stars' comprises seven songs with music composed by Bathiya
and Santhush. The lyrics are penned by Kelum Srimal, Wasantha
Dukgannarala, Nilar N. Casim and Aruna Jayawardana. Members of the B 'n'
S troupe, Amila Perera, Dushyanth Weeraman, Uresha Ravihari and Shihan
Mihiranga are the playback singers.
Sanka and Gayan are the choreographers. Sisil Ratnayake and Dhammika
Fonseka, who are a part of the 'Sirasa Dancing Stars' reality Tv show
have also extended their support for this project. Shooting commenced on
September 25 in locations in Colombo.
The movie is slotted for release in January.
Prabhakaran runs to broader spheres
Thushara Peiris' maiden movie Prabhakaran has started screening in
Australia. The movie is unspooling in theatres in Melbourne, Sydney,
Perth, Canberra and Kingston. Several seminars focusing on Prabakaran
had also been organised.
Prabakaran was screened in several countries like Germany, France and
Jordan in the last few months.

Citi Hitz turns one
Citi
Hitz, the first teledrama and movie channel, had gained utmost popular
among the Sri Lankan audience in its stint of one year. Citi Hitz has
been On Air since December 2007 and had been working towards giving
filmmakers and amatures to the industry an opportunity to promote their
creations. The channel is linked with Dialog Tv and does no formal
advertising during the programmes.
The channel promises to bring a host of treats and surprises for its
viewers in 2009. With one years of experience behind them Citi Hitz
hopes to bring Sri Lanka's newest discoveries in cinema to the forefront
through special talent search programmes to bring short films to
national and international heights. Budding directors will be funded and
provided with necessities to create short films which will be aired on
the channel.

he conquered the wide screen and now he is ready to join your mobile
phone. When Jackson Anthony's record breaking historic creation Aba left
the main circuit cinemas on November 21 it was not only to screen the
movie at 38 cinemas close to the village but also to join the league of
mobile video games.
With Aba Hatana, Aba will be the first Sinhala movie to launch its
own video game much like international movies like the 'Harry Potter'
series and 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy.
The video game is a production of Gamos Technology Solutions (GTS),

Nildiya Yahana sails to Regal

opular director Dayaratne Ratagedara's maiden movie, Nildiya Yahana
(Deep Blue Sleep) will take over the wide screen from December 5. The
movie introduces young actor Saranga Disasekera to cinema while the
charming Chathurika Peiris takes on the female lead.
Roshan Pilapitiya, Tony Ranasinghe, Chandani Seneviratne, Sanath
Gunatileke, Dilan Perera, Menika Attanayaka, Daya Alwia, Damayanthi
Fonseka, Wilson Karunaratne, Thusitha Haloluwa, Thushan Amarashinghe,
Chandrasena Walimuni, Yesilka Wickramarathna, Sahan Wijesinghe, Nuwani
Walimuni, Chandrasoma Binduhewa, Norman Palihawadana, Manjula Moragaha,
Tissa Bandaranayaka, Sanjeewa Thirimadura and Ajith Kumara Attanayaka
also make up the cast in the movie which is produced by Sujeewa
Priyashantha Hettiarachchi and Malee Hettiarachchi.

brings fresh talent to the screen:

Reputed compere Ariyadasa Peries's latest creation Suba, starring
Manjula Moragoda and new entrant Apsara Botheju in lead roles, held its
Muhurath ceremony at the National Film Corporation recently.
The movie is based on a murderer who has fled after committing a
crime and a policewoman who is hot on his trail.
The story, dialogues and script are also by Ariyadasa Peries. Cletus
Mendis and Sanoja Bibile is also part of the cast. The music director
Roahana Weerasinghe while Latha Walpola, Champa Kalhari, Edward Jayakody,
Charitha Priyadarshani and Saman Silva will contribute in vocals.
