Eastern Province CM’s Personal Secretary, driver gunned down
COLOMBO: The Personal Secretary to the Eastern Province Chief
Minister and his driver were assassinated by unknown gunmen yesterday
morning in Oruwela, Athurugiriya.
Police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera said Eastern Province Chief
Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan’s Co-ordinating Secretary Kumara-swamy
Nandagopan alias Ragu and his driver S.T.M. Nazeer were gunned down in
Oruwela around 11.25 a.m.
“The incident took place along the Kaduwela-Athurugiriya road close
to Millennium City,” he added. The Volvo bearing number EP KH-3685 was
blocked and forced to the side of the road before it was attacked. Both

point blank range. Nandagopan had contested at the Eastern Provincial
election as the main TMVP candidate for the Trincomalee district.
Athurugiriya Police are conducting investigations.
Meanwhile, two other TMVP members were shot dead at their TMVP office
in Pangudaweli, Batticaloa on Thursday night, SSP Gunasekera said.
