'Amendments effected in terms of SC ruling'

Leader of the House, Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva told Parliament yesterday according to the recommendations made by the Supreme Court, the amendments on the 2009 Appropriation Bill were handed over to Parliament on November 11.

Those amendments were made following discussions with the Attorney General, the Minister said. The Minister was responding to a question raised by the UNP MP Ravi Karunanayake.

Karunanayake said the amendments made to the Appropriation Bill based on the Supreme Court ruling have not been given to MPs.The Minister said the relevant amendments have been handed over to the Parliament Secretaries.

Speaker W. J. M. Lokubandara said these amendments will be given to the MPs on November 17.
