Cyclist Anthony passes away

Veteran cyclist and founder member of the Wing Wheel Cycling Club Anthony Richard Perera (65) passed away after a brief illness yesterday.

Anthony won many racing events in the 1960's and was placed second in the Tour de Lanka race and also won the Tour de Galle cycling event.

He is the brother of former renowned cyclict and Tour de Lanka winner Boniface Perera.

Anthony also had the honour of representing the country at the Ganifo Sports Festival in Jakarta, Indonesia in 1966. His funeral will take place today at the general cemetery, Hendala at 10.00 a.m.
