Royal - Under-10 Tag rugby champions

The inaugural Junior Tag Rugby Under-10, 10-A side Tournament was
held at the Royal Sports Complex on November 9 (Sunday). This colourful
tournament was organised by the Western Province Rugby Football Union
under the leadership of N.J. Mudannayaka (Coordinator WPRFU). More than
100 participants from 14 leading schools took part in this Junior Tag
rugby tourney which was witnessed by many parents of the participants
and they really enjoyed by watching at these lads skills.
The Royal A, B and C teams was coached by none other than Summa
Navaratnam (Rugby Legend of late 60’s). Summa also conducted a Rugby
Academy for Royal Juniors an year ago which was a great success.
Certificates for all participating teams were awarded by Summa
Navaratnam (Rugby Legend), Fazal Mohamed (Rugby Development Chairman
SLRFU) and Shamrath Fernando (Secretary, WPRFU).
The main group results:
Group ‘A’ - Royal A Winners Beat Lalith Athulatmudali College ‘B’ and
Moratuwa MMV.
Group ‘B’ - S. de S. Jayasingha College and Lanka Sabha Vidyalaya
were joint champions.
Group ‘C’ - Royal ‘B; Winners beat Hindu College and Roman Catholic
MV.
Group ‘D’ - Dudley Senanayaka College Winners beat Royal ‘C’, Lalith
Athulathmudali College and Roman Catholic MV.
