HFC, Dehiwela take Girls Under-15 cager title

Holy Family Convent, Dehiwela emerged champions with a thrilling 44
points to 43 win over Colombo International School in the All Island
Girls Schools Under-15 'A' Division Basketball Championship played at
St. Joseph's Girls School courts, Negegoda recently.
Iresha Fernando (18) and Umanga Fernando (15) played a grand game for
the winners while Sahara Peterson (20) and Chrishni Mendis (14) made a
valiant effort for the losers.
In the semi-finals, Holy Family Convent scored a 37 points to 31 win
over St. Joseph's Girls School, Nugegoda who led 16 to 13 at the
breather. Iresha Fernando (12) and Hashini Silva (10) excelled for the
winners while Niromi de Anne (10) stood out for the losers. On their way
to the semi-finals Holy Family Convent beat St. Bridget's Convent by 52
points to 46 after leading 27-25 at half time.
Iresha Fernando (21) and Umanga Fernando (15) gave a superb display
for the winners while Swairie Fernando (32) made a valiant attempt for
the losers.
In the other Group match Holy Family Convent, Dehiwela scored a
convincing 50 points to 36 win over Holy Family Convent, Kurunegala
after leading 26-16 at the breather.
Iresha Fernando (28) and Umanga Fernando (12) shone for the winning
HFC while Pooja Dharmakeerthi (15) and Vindya Dissanayake (10) excelled
for the losers.
Against Colombo International School in their group match they won 44
points to 37 after leading 19-18 at half time.
