Donation for Api Wenuwen Api
Colombo: Helping to free the country from the clutches of terrorism
is not only the duty of the soldiers but also of the citizens of the
country. This was amply proved yesterday, November 10 when Tamara
Nilanthi Katuwawela, a resident of Thumbowila Piliyandala at a special
ceremony held at the Ministry of Defence donated Rs. 100,000 to the Api
Wenuwen Api Fund.
Secretary of Defence Gotabhaya Rajapaksa officially accepted the
donation at the Ministry premises last morning.
Ms. Tamara Nilanthi Katuwawela said that she was moved by the
dedication of the Secretary of Defence to uplift the soldiers who work
so tirelessly in the Northern Province.
She stated that the money was initially for her parents' trip to
India. However, they decided to donate the money for this worthy cause.
Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa expressed his sincere gratitude to
this lady who donated this amount for the brave war heroes.
He further said that it was important to felicitate the brave
soldiers and express gratitude for their hard work.
Jinadasa Katuwawela, father of Nilanthi Katuwawela was also present
at the ceremony.
