Promising paddler
Leslie Fernando
The promising paddler Lithmini Mahanama of Wesley College the only
'pen holder' grip schoolboy player proved his class winning three titles
at the 30th Novices Friendship Table Tennis Championships held at the S.
Thomas' College indoor stadium, Mt. Lavinia.
Lithmini is an emerging star among the younger table tennis players
knocking at the door for contention in the major tournaments to be
played in junior level. This was evidently proved when he won the boys
singles under-8, under-10 and under-12 titles.
The 8 year old Lithmini the grade three student at Wesley College
achievement at this tournament was a great one as he was participating
for the first time and to clinch three titles.
Master Lithmini Mahanama is being coached by former 'star' national
player Jothipala Samaraweera who was also a 'pen holder' player who
fared prominently in international championships. |
