Sashiranga and Manoji clinch Under-18 titles

Two paddlers from Ambalangoda, A.M. Hashintha Sashiranga of Dharmasoka College and Dinusha Manoji of Devananda College clinched the two titles in the Under-18 Boys and Girls Singles events of the 62nd Junior National Table Tennis Championship conducted by Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka at S. Thomas' College Indoor Stadium, Mount Lavinia on November 7 and 8.

Hashintha Sashiranga beat Buddhika Walagampola of Royal College, Colombo by 11/03, 11/07, 09/11, 11/07 in the finals while Dinusha Manoji overcame Tharindra Weerakoon of Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya, Kurungeala in the finals by 11/07, 13/11, 13/11.

In the Under-15 Singles event Dharmasoka paddler Hashintha Sashiranga defeated his schoolmate Chameera Ginige by 11/05, 05/11, 11/06, 09/11, 11/08 and became the star of the Championship.

The other results:

Girls Under-15 Singles: Tharunya Shashini of Ambalangoda Devananda beat Nuwani Navodya of Ambalangoda Dharmasoka by 07/11, 11/07, 11/07, 11/06.

Boys Under-12 Singles: Nuwantha Niroshana of Ambalangoda Dharmasoka defeated Kulanaka Hendahewa of Royal College, Colombo convincingly in straight three sets by 11/09, 11/08, 11/07.

Girls Under-12 Singles: Umaya Tharakie of Ambalangoda Dharmasoka overcame Kushini Ransara of the same school by 02/11, 14/12, 11/06, 09/11, 11/08.

Boys Under-10 Singles: Nuwantha Niroshana defeated easily Udaya Ranasinghe of Kandy Vidyartha by 15/13, 11/07, 11/04.

Girls Under-10 Singles: Ridmi Karandanaarachchi of Mahamaya Balika Vidyalaya, Kandy beat Sathya Udyangi of Ambalangoda Dharmasoka by 11/08, 05/11, 11/07, 11/08.

Girls Under-18 Doubles: Dinusha Manoji/Ishara Madhurangi (Ambalangoda Devananda) beat Nirmani Silva/Dinithi Kariyawasam (Girls High School, Kandy) by 08/11, 11/09, 11/04, 11/04.

Boys Under-18 Doubles: A.M. Hashintha Sashiranga (Dharmasoka)/Samitha Abeyratne (Royal College) beat Sukitha Wickramanayaka (Dharmaraja, Kandy)/Vindula Ganegoda (Royal College) by 11/09, 11/02, 11/07.

Girls Under-18 Mixed Doubles: Malith Dilusha and Tharunya Shashini (Ambalangoda Devananda) beat their schoolmates, Dinusha Manoji and Sashi Fernando by 12/10, 11/06, 13/11.
