Lankan women looking for a win

The five match ODI Series between Sri Lankan women cricketers and West Indies women which got under way on Wednesday saw the visitors take the lead recording a 40 run victory at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium. Today they come to maintain theie recor intact.

Though both skippers were confident of the performances of their players. The records showed that the Windies were behind in the rankings Sri Lanka fourth position and the Windies in the eighth. But it proved that the past records do not affect the competition.

Sri Lankan women failed to do their best in the first game. West Indies women too did not come up with the expected results though they won. It was Stacy Ann King’s 70, that helped them..

Sripali Weerakkody and Suwini de Alwis both picked up three wickets each are expected to put West Indies into some kind of trouble. Sri Lankan skipper did not show any confidence on her bowlers and had to use eight bowlers.

Today Sri Lankan batswomen WILL HAVE TO COME with a super performance if they are to come to equal terms. It was their batting that failed miserably specially the middle order including the skipper herslf. Sri Lankan openers Dudunu Silva and Chamari Polgampola are sure to make their contribution today and the batting to follow should take great care in handling the Windies bowling. If they fail in this part Lankans will be in trouble again from which the Windies women could hold the upper hand in this Series.

Today both teams will have to come out with their best to show their superiority against each other.
