Tele village launched

Sri Lanka's first Tele village was launched yesterday honouring another pledge given to the people under the Mahinda Chinthana.

The first Tele cinema village will come up at Ranminitenna in Tissamaharama on an area spanning 235 acres. It will cost Rs 1.2 billion. The Government has already allocated the grant. The work is due to be completed in four years. Construction work commenced under the patronage of Ministers Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and Chamal Rajapaksa. Many artistes were present.

The work will be carried out in five stages.

Minister Rajapaksa said work on the first stage of the Tele village which will be equipped with modern facilities, is due to be completed in one year.
