Eastern CM unhurt in accident

KURUNEGALA: Eastern Province Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan's vehicle was involved in an accident in Gokarella, Kurunegala yesterday. The Chief Minister was unhurt.

According to Chief Minister's spokesman M.S. Thavaraja, the car collided with a double cab coming from the opposite direction around 3.45 a.m.

"The incident had occurred when Chief Minister Chandrakanthan was heading from Colombo to Trincomalee escorted by his convoy," he added.

"His car was damaged but he escaped without injury," Thavaraja told the Daily News. The cab driver was arrested and the Gokarella police are investigating.
