A'pura teaching hospital doctors await response

Doctors attached to Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital are awaiting the response of the Ministry of Health Care and Nutrition with regard to the appointment of a senior qualified physician to the post of Teaching Hospital Director today.

Dr. Aruna Palitha Sampath, Secretary of the Anuaradhapura Teaching Hospital GMOU Branch said they would wait till noon today. Ministry officials had given an undertaking to do so at a crucial meeting they had with the mother branch of the GMOU in Colombo last week.

Dr. Sampath the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital's GMOU Branch Secretary warned that nearly 220 doctors including consultants would join the strike. But the doctors will attend to the emergency cases, he emphasised.
