Committee to study rail signal system

Minister of Transport Dullas Alahapperuma has made arrangements to appoint a committee consisting of experts to study the railway signal system.

This committee will consist of two eminent persons from the Peradeniya and Moratuwa Universities and two representatives from Sri Lanka Railways. The preliminary guidelines have already been formulated in this regard.

In the absence of modernisation of the railway signal system and the installation of spare parts, the appointment of a committee of this nature has been greatly felt to rectify the shortcomings, Minister Alahapperuma stated. It is our duty to develop the railway services as a comfortable and convenient public passenger and goods transport system under the Mahinda Chintana policies, Minister Alahapperuma stated.
