Sakvithi scam: CID arrests Sub Inspector

COLOMBO: A Sub - Inspector attached to the communications division of the Mirihana police station was taken into the custody by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officials in connection with the Sakvithi Ranasinghe scam, Police Media Spokesman Ranjith Gunasekera said.

"Sub Inspector Pushpa Kumar is being questioned at the CID Headquarters," SSP Gunasekera added. SI Kumara has links with Sakvithi Ranasinghe who cheated thousands of investors of nearly Rs. one billion. Warrants have been issued for the arrest of Ranasinghe and several others. Police h

public help to nab them. According to a report filed by the Special Crime Investigation Unit of the Mirihana Police, 1,870 complaints have been received in connection with the scam.
