Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT), emerged overall champions at the Inter-

Operator Badminton Tournament, which was held at the Royal College Sports Complex, Colombo recently.

The SLT badminton team won most of the awards, winning the Women's Team event, Mixed Doubles Open, Men's Double Veterans, Women's Doubles Veterans' and the Mixed Doubles Veterans'. SLT also was the first runner-up in the Men's Team event. Dialog Telecom was the overall first runner-up while Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel was placed third in this tournament which was organized by the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka.

The tournament marked it's third consecutive year, with all fixed-line and mobile operators taking part. The teams which marked their participation were, Dialog Telecom, Dialog Broadbrand, Hutchison Telecom, Lanka Bell, Suntel, Sri Lanka Telecom, Mobitel, Tigo, TRC and the fresh entrant, Bharathi Airtel. the first round games for singles and doubles were held at S. Thomas' Indoor Stadium on September 13.

This tournament is annually organized by the TRC with the hope of strengthening the unity and the relationship amongst all the telecommunication operators. "The tournament is a very good opportunity for the employees to get out of the routiene day-to-day life and interact with the brothers and sisters of the fellow companies under a competitive and friendly environment" said L.P.M.P. Balapitiya, GM/ SLT Publications (Pvt) Ltd, and also the Chairman of the Organizing Committee for this tournament.

Womens' Team Event

Champion: SLT, 1st Runner up: Dialog, 2nd Runner up: LankaBell

Mens' Team Event.

Champion: Dialog, 1st Runner up: SLT, 2nd Runner up: Mobitel

Mens' Doubles(Open)

Winner: Dialog, 1st Runner Up: Dialog, 2nd Runner: Up Mobitel

Womens' Doubles(Open)

Winner: Dialog, 1st Runner Up: TRC, 2nd Runner Up: SLT

Mixed Doubles(Open)

Winner: SLT, 1st Runner Up: Dialog, 2nd Runner Up: Dialog

Mens' Doubles(Veterans)

Winner: SLT, 1st Runner Up: Mobitel, 2nd Runner Up SLT

Womens' Doubles (Veterans) Winner: SLT, 1st Runner Up: TRC, 2nd Runner Up: Dialog

Mixed Doubles(Veterans)

Winner: SLT, 1st Runner Up: TRC, 2nd Runner Up: Dialog
