Police kennels will purchase a pack of 40 pedigreed dogs from local
sources for training in explosives detection to bolster its capacity to
counter acts of terrorism.
Chief Inspector Lal Seneviratne of the Police Kennels said this would
help the country to save nearly Rs. 19 million in foreign exchange.
If they were to get down the dogs from abroad it would have cost
nearly Rs. 20 million in foreign exchange. Among the pedigreed dogs they
hoped to purchase were German Shepherds, Labradors and Dalmatians. |
