Third AAAH begins

The inaugural session of the third conference on Asia Pacific Action Alliance on Human Resources for Health (AAAH) began in Colombo yesterday. The inaugural meeting was held under the patronage of Healthcare and Nutrition Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva. The theme for this year is "Globalisation and its Implications of Healthcare and Human Resources in Health".

It seeks to evolve an understanding of the critical and key contemporary implications of globalisation for human resources for health and related aspects of healthcare. These ideas and implications would be addressed through specific regional frameworks and the conference would seek to provide policy oriented recommendations based on intersectoral strategies and pathways.

The participants are from 15 AAAH member countries and a minimum of three per country participate.

The conference will be held in Kandy from today till October 15.
