Emergency passed

KOTTE: TMVP Leader V. Muralitharan who was sworn in as a UPFA National List MP voted in favour of the Emergency yesterday.

The motion moved by Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka to extend the Emergency regulations by another one month was passed in Parliament with a majority of 84 votes. The TNA asked for a division and voted against. The JVP and UNP members were not in the Chamber when the vote was taken up.
