A'pura attack condemned:
Unite to fight against terrorism - UPFA
The United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) in a statement yesterday
said the scourge of terrorism has once again raised its ugly head with
the suicide bomb explosion in the Anuradhapura town recently.
The message issued under the hand of UPFA Secretary General and
Education Minister Susil Premajyantha said all should shed racial and
religious differences and unite to defeat terrorism.
Exerpts from the message:
"What is most tragic is the death of eminent war veteran Major
General Janaka Perera who brought several victories for the nation in
its fight against terrorism. He retired from the service after ensuring
a memorable history for the military and began to give leadership to the
people in the North Central Province during the PC election this year.
In the face of grave terrorist threat, we must shed all racial and
religious differences and unite overselves to defeat this scourge of
terrorism.
We express our deep condolences on the bereaved families of Major
General Janaka Perera and others in the tragedy.
