'Shed petty differences, unite to defeat LTTE'

President of the National Freedom Front (NFF) Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa has in a press release, vehemently condemned the LTTE suicide bomb attack on North Central Province Opposition Leader Major General Janaka Perera and several others in Anuradhapura last Monday.

Major General Janaka Perera had led several battles against LTTE terrorism in the North, the release said.

Excerpts from the release: Military leaders entry into politics is something which the LTTE resents.

"The LTTE has repeatedly shown its barbarism by assassinating political leaders and also the Tamil and Muslim leaders including SLMC leader M. H. M. Ashroff. They have also killed Tamil academics.

We can face up to this fascist terrorism only through our united efforts and for this we must get rid of all our petty differences in the interest of the country. We urge all the political parties and organisations to rally together to defeat this LTTE terrorism."

"We express our deep condolence on the death of Major General Janaka Perera and all others in this tragedy," the press release stated.
